this just in – film panel on Stieg Larsson

The Nordic Lights Film Festival in Minneapolis will include the showing of a documentary about Larsson and the Millennium Trilogy, including a panel discussion, on November 21st at 1:00 pm. This is just one of many Nordic films being shown throughout the festival. Hat tip to Once Upon a Crime for the news.

  1. Barbara,
This is not about Scandinavian crime fiction, but I started reading your second book, am on page 40, and am enjoying it so much, that my Nordic noir books (Nesser, Nesbo) which are waiting at the library will have to wait.
A good, interesting woman character, wit, and social and political commentary–to me, nothing could be better. And Chicago, where I grew up, too.
This should keep me busy for a few days this holiday week.
I didn’t know where else to post a message, hope this is okay.
Have a great holiday and hope to read about more book recommendations.

  2. I just saw the movie of “The Girl Who Played with Fire,” and I must say that Lizbeth Salander only retaliated against people who harmed her and other people, including her mother.

The brutality against her character in that movie, the footage of past abuse, and then current, actually brought me to tears, and shock. Some of the shock was that anyone could survive that much abuse.

So, anyone in the blogosphere who has any criticisms of Lizbeth Salander does not know what they are talking about, or what has been shown about her life.

I’m in a snit all over again when I think of her character being slandered.
